Penrhyn Castle and Gardens

Telford, Shrewsbury

The Experience

Northern Belle Crest Logo

Your journey begins as you are welcomed by your steward, and shown to your seat. On board, beautifully-laid tables with starched tablecloths, along with uniquely-branded silverware, emphasise the elegant and comfortable carriages.

Fine dining is a highlight of every journey, and once you have settled into your seat, a delicious brunch with Bellini is served on the outward journey to Wales. In the care of your steward, sit back and relax in the convivial atmosphere. The journey is as exciting as the destination.

On arrival you will be greeted by our local guides who will accompany you on the short scenic coach journey (approximately 15minutes) to Penrhyn Castle. Your time is then your own to explore the castle and grounds. Highlights include the State Rooms, Library and Drawing room as well as the opportunity to go “below stairs” to the restored Victorian Kitchens. Outside is equally as dramatic – lose yourself amongst the tall leaves in the jungle style Bog Garden and relax and unwind in the tranquil Walled Garden home to many exotic tropical plants. A visit to the Railway museum located in the old stable block is a must. See a wide range of engines, carriages and rolling stock that used to work in the nearby Penrhyn Quarry. This National Trust property really is a National treasure and a wonderful way to spend the afternoon.

After your return to the train, a fine dining dinner with champagne and wine is served as we make our way home.
