A new date has been added for this trip on Saturday 23rd August 2025.
Today the Northern Belle is not just taking you to Scotland’s historic capital city, it’s also transporting you back to the golden days of rail travel. An era when nothing was too good for the pampered passenger.
From the moment you board the train over a red carpet, as a kilted piper plays a lament on the station platform, and are handed your first sparkling Mimosa cocktail by one of our liveried stewards, you know today is going to be special.
A delicious three-course brunch will be served as you settle back in your comfortable armchair in one of our gleaming umber-and-cream hand-decorated 1930s Pullman-style carriages for the journey north.
Then you will have plenty of time to explore Edinburgh at your leisure, perhaps taking a stroll
through the old town to the imposing castle before a spot of shopping on Princes Street.
Later after returning to another champagne reception aboard the Northern Belle, you will be served a mouth-watering six-course dinner, accompanied by our expert sommelier’s choice of fine wines, during a leisurely journey home.
Culminating, of course, with your choice from our celebrated and award-winning Great British Cheese Board, along with a lovely glass of port.
Few cities in the world can match Edinburgh with its stunning castle perched high on the hill, overlooking the wonderful Georgian architecture below.
Check out the Floral Clock, planted in 1903, just off elegant Princes Street, or pay homage to Greyfriars Bobby, the faithful Skye terrier who sat beside the grave of his master for 14 years. Many touch Bobby’s statue believing it will bring them luck.
