Windsor Castle

Stafford, Birmingham, Coventry

The Experience

Northern Belle Crest Logo

Our journey will take you to the most famous castle in the World and the oldest home of her majesty the QueenFounded by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, it has since been the home of 39 monarchs. Today The Queen spends most of her private weekends at the Castle.

Your journey begins as your steward welcomes you aboard the Northern Belle to your comfortable armchair seat. Elegant tables laid with starched tablecloths, uniquely branded silverware and highly polished glasses complement the luxurious carriages.

Fine dining is a highlight of every journey and, once you have settled in, a delicious brunch with a Bellini is served as you travel towards Oxford. In the care of your steward, sit back and relax in the convivial atmosphere, enjoying the views from your window. On the Northern Belle, the journey is as exciting as the destination.

On arrival at Windsor Eton Riverside station the Castle is a short, uphill walk from so we advise comfortable walking shoes.

Since the time of Henry I it has been used by the reigning monarch and is the longest occupied castle in Europe. The castle's lavish early 19th-century State Apartments were described as the finest and most complete expression of later Georgian taste.

Inside the castle walls is the 15th-century St Georges Chapel, a chapel built in high-medieval Gothic style. It is both a Royal Peculiar, a church under the direct jurisdiction of the monarch, and the Chapel of the Order of the Garter.

After a wonderful day rejoin the coach for the short journey back to the station, where we welcome you back on board the Northern Belle with a refreshing glass of champagne.

Later, you are served a sumptuous five-course dinner accompanied by half a bottle of wine as we wend our way home.
