Christmas in Edinburgh

Hull, York

The Experience

Northern Belle Crest Logo

Kick start the festive season in style with an indulgent day excursion aboard the Northern Belle luxury heritage train to Edinburgh’s picturesque city.

Your day begins as your steward welcomes you on board Northern Belle and shows you to your seat. Elegant tables laid with starched linen, uniquely designed silverware and polished glasses complement the luxurious carriages - sit back in your plush armchair and celebrate Britain’s glorious railway heritage.

Fine dining is a highlight of every journey and, once you have settled into your seat, a delicious brunch with a Bellini is served. In the care of your steward, sit back and relax in the convivial atmosphere, enjoying the views from your window as you travel towards Edinburgh.

A Breathtaking Spectacle

Edinburgh is a place famous for featuring all four seasons in one day. During Christmas, however, the weather suddenly renders itself appropriate! Come rain, shine, or snow, the glorious hues and cosy vibes created by the fusion of dewy droplets and wispy snowflakes are magnificent.

The Jenners Christmas Tree

A true pride and joy, the festive season truly begins when the Jenners Christmas Tree graces Edinburgh’s favourite department store. Admiring this gloriously festooned tree from every floor has long been a tradition amongst locals for generations.

The historic Scottish capital with its medieval Old Town, imposing castle and countless shops, really is the place to be at Christmas.

After a delightful afternoon, return to the train for a champagne reception. A sumptuous dinner accompanied by our sommelier’s choice of wine is served as you mull over the many highlights of the day.

EDINBURGH

Edinburgh’s dramatic history and legacy of cultural and artistic influence make it a sightseer’s paradise. For many visitors the first port of call is Edinburgh Castle, perched on a hill and dominating the city’s skyline. Here you can learn about the castle’s pivotal role in Scotland’s military history and its many famous former occupants. Other popular hotspots include the spectacular Royal Yacht Britannia and the evocative Real Mary King’s Close.
