Last updated: 27th May 2020

In difficult moments like this, it is heartening to remember we all remain connected through our mutual concern for each other, the Northern Belle community. We sincerely hope you and your loved ones are safe and sound and our thoughts go out to you as many around us face hardships and unprecedented challenges. Thank you for all the kind messages of support that we have received and please accept ours in return.

On Thursday 23rd April we issued a statement in line with that of the Government, that a future announcement would be made on Thursday 7th May, the position then, was the ‘lockdown’ period would continue for at least three weeks.

Following yesterday’s statement where the Government laid out plans to gradually lift the ‘lockdown’ and announced a ‘road map’ giving indications of when we might see a return to the ‘new’ normal.

Northern Belle operating schedule Wednesday 27th May

In line with Government guidelines we have re-assessed our operating schedule and delayed the start until Saturday 4th July, we have therefore removed the schedule for June, and we are in the process of offering alternative dates or issuing VIP credit vouchers to passengers booked to travel in June.

We will return to the line on Saturday 4th July with a most spectacular journey, where the Northern Belle will celebrate a return with the most glamorous of outings, with a dining experience like no other, and hauled by one of the world’s most famous steam locomotives ‘Princess Elizabeth 6201’ built in 1933 and named after the then seven-year-old Queen -to-be. This will be some celebration, departing from Preston. For information about this please email reservations@northernbelle.co.uk.

In the event distancing is in place at the time of travel we will limit the passenger capacity to around 100.

We look forward to welcoming all our guests on board very soon.

We are speaking with the (ORR) Office of Road and Rail and working with them to satisfy travel arrangement.

We will contact all affected passengers booked to travel over the next few days to discuss the options for your booking.
